Independence Indian English Fiction”: This project is taking into account the different themes which have stirred the creative genius of the Indian novelists after Independence, such as the Freedom Struggle, the Trauma of Partition, the East-West Encounter, Major Political Events, Historical Episodes, Social Realism, the Ethnic problems, Existentialism, Mythical Episodes, Psychological Problems, the sex - theme, the Indian Ethos, the Problems of the Indian Woman and the like. But among them, the problem of the modern man, and perhaps the most besetting problem, is that of the rootless ness, purposelessness and meaninglessness of life. The Post-Independence novelists writing in English today on the theme of Alienation and Existentialism are Arun Joshi, Anita Desai, Nayantara Sahgal, Kamala Das, Sasthi Brata, Shiv K. Kumar, Salman Rushdie, Raji Narasimhan and Y. P. Dhawan. The project at hand intends to analyze the so far published thirty-two novels of these writers and to bring forth how they have handled the theme of alienation in them.
(The project is funded by the H.R.D. Ministry, Govt. of India, New Delhi).
4. “Contrastive Stylistic and Thematic Analysis of the Poetry of
William Wordsworth and Robert Frost” intends to compare the poetic worlds of the World’s two great Nature Poets and to analyze their themes and styles. Both of them have written poetry about and on NATURE and in general they have the similar approach, the same simplicity and the same faith in Nature that Nature is the greatest teacher of Man and the everlasting source of pleasure. Their poetic style is perhaps the most pleasant thing to study. It has the biblical simplicity and it is really the language of the ‘common man’. This Stylistic Analysis is going to reveal the inner working of the poetic minds of Wordsworth and Frost.
(The project supported by the P.S.G.V.P. Mandal, Shahada).
5. “Shakespeare and the Dramatic World of V. W. Shirwadkar” is a study of the dramas of the most famous Marathi poet - novelist - dramatist - the prestigious “Dnyanpith” award winner, literary doyen of our time. It is going to be in Marathi and the Chetashri Prakashan is going to bring it out.
